Position: Event Planning Intern
Reports to: Founder/CEO
Hours: Varies (5-15 per week, incl.
nights and weekends)

Responsibilities:
The Event Planning
Intern is a contract, unpaid internship position which will assist the
Founder/CEO of Mamapreneurs Inc., as well as the Membership Coordinator and
specific event committees in the research, planning and execution of monthly
meetings, classes/workshops, other ongoing events, the Mom Shop annual fair,
the Makings of a Mamapreneur annual conference, and all other special events.
The Event Planning Intern reports directly to and will assist the Founder/CEO
with the following: making phone calls; sending email and mail correspondence;
researching venues, vendors and speakers; budget planning; maintaining pre-event
and day-of event registration and attendee follow-up; securing supplies &
food/beverages for meetings and events; day-of event management, set-up and
tear-down; post-event follow-up, and more. This position supports the mission
of the organization, which is to provide a helpful, supportive and respectful
atmosphere for business owners, entrepreneurs and freelancers who are also
mothers.
Internship Education:
The Event
Coordination Intern will be exposed to a wide array of event planning and
management experience. This internship provides individuals with the
opportunity to have hands-on experience planning all types of events –from
small committee meetings to larger monthly meetings & workshops to
large-scale trade shows & conferences. The intern will be exposed to all
stages of event planning, and have the opportunity to gain valuable contacts in
the industry.
Qualifications:
This
position requires flexibility in terms of the hours worked during the week and will
include some evening and weekend hours. The ideal candidate is a professional, organized,
mature, efficient worker with the ability to envision the big picture as well
as have an acute attention to detail. The ideal candidate is also energetic and
outgoing with keen problem-solving skills. Due to the nature of Mamapreneurs
Inc., candidates may be privy to sensitive member information and must therefore
be trustworthy and adhere to our strict privacy guidelines. Candidates should
be familiar with and comfortable working with moms, women business owners and
children in a family-friendly environment. Candidates should be proficient in
Microsoft Word and Excel and comfortable using Web-based e-mail marketing and
survey programs. Candidates should also possess the ability and willingness to
learn the basics of other computer programs quickly. Bachelor’s degree or some
college preferred but not required. Candidate should also have reliable
transportation.
Compensation:
This
position is a contract, unpaid internship position with the possibility of
renewing or turning into a part-time paid position in the future.
