LETTER FROM THE FOUNDER/PRESIDENT

Dear Mom Business Owners,

You are amazing.  Each day, you juggle not only work, but your very own business baby, along with your family, your close friends, your volunteer work, and time for yourself. You are a rockstar, a role model, a confidante, a leader, a teacher. You are nothing short of perfection, because here at The Power MOB, perfection is simply being YOU.

I formed this organization on Mother's Day of 2006 because there was, quite simply, nothing like it when I needed it. I craved connections with moms who were going through the same thing I was going through: the madness of trying to cram work in during naptimes and after the tiring routine of getting kids to bed; navigating the confusing sea of information in trying to launch my own businesses; the seemingly no-win struggle of trying to be the best mom, best life partner, best business owner, best boss I could be while also still maintaining a life rich with friends, adventure, laughter and maybe some peaceful sleep once in a while. When I sought out similar connections, I found you: this incredible, collaborative community full of warmth, spirit and understanding. What I have done is simply gather you all in one place so you may all meet, share, vent, and support each other. You have all been there for me, and this organization is my thanks to you. I hope you are able to make the same connections, receive the same fulfilling support, as I have.

Being part of The Power MOB is like being part of a family, a business networking organization, and a moms group all rolled into one beautiful community. Here, you never have to pretend you know everything about your business, nor do you ever have to pretend that you are the perfect mom. Those perfections do not exist in our world. We are perfect in our flaws, and our acknowledgment of our limits as well as of our successes.

As mom business owners, we know it is not an easy path we take. Yet when we forge forward together, we can help each other become healthier moms, better business owners, happier women. Through our collaborations and connections, we help build stronger communities. When we show the world that there are many different ways of blending family life with business life, we help change the way the world does business. When we step forward and say confidently "Yes, I am a business owner, and I am a mother" without hesitation, without apologizing, without pretending that an important part of our lives doesn't exist when we've got our business game face on, then we help build solid pathways to a more family-friendly business world.

There are many different kinds of mom business owners: some work from home, some have busimg_8016.jpginesses located outside of the home, some work full-time traveling all over the world; some are one-mom specialty shops, others are multi-billion dollar, multi-employee corporations. Regardless of what type of mom business owner you are, if you are a mom to a child of any age, and you own a business, then this organization is for you.We exist so you can easily seek out educational opportunities to grow as a business owner while finding support for your needs, and reciprocate by helping others with theirs. Plain and simple. It is about building relationships, making friends, and raising families. It is about creating a collaborative community in which our businesses and our families can thrive together in harmony.

Sincerely,

Marlynn Jayme Schotland
