The Power MOB (Mom-Owned Businesses) is a professional networking organization based in Portland, Oregon. Our mission is to foster a respectful, helpful, supportive and fun environment for women business owners, entrepreneurs and independent consultants/contractors who are also mothers. Our focus is to support individual mom entrepreneurs: to help each other grow and connect as business owners and as mothers. It is from these connections that our businesses have the opportunity to flourish.
WHO WE ARE
We are marketing consultants, retail store owners, salon owners, physicians, accountants, lawyers, bookkeepers, apparel designers, interior designers and decorators, chefs, restaurateurs, graphic and web designers, writers, business consultants, life coaches, and so much more. We are all mothers – some grandmothers – with children ages newborn through 40+. We are located throughout the globe. Our businesses are just launching or have been around up to 30+ years. We represent a variety of industries, business entities, sizes, and stages. We are a group of supportive, giving, kind, fair, strong, ambitious, and independent women. We are diverse, we are collaborative, we are all about community.
WHAT WE DO
-Events. From workshops to panel chat sessions to coffee chats to mixers, we offer mom business owners and those looking to connect with mom businesses owners a variety of periodic events throughout the year.
-Forums. This is where mom business owners can promote their businesses, interact and connect with other mom entrepreneurs around the globe, and share resources.
-Close-knit Community of mom business owners serve as a strong referral base for business. We support each other by working together, referring each other, and being loyal customers to member businesses.
-The Makings of a MOB Annual Conference: a conference for mamapreneurs at all stages of business that focuses on juggling both business and family life.
-and so much more! We work hard to fit the needs of the modern mompreneur !
WHO WE ARE NOT
We are not hard sell, pushy, aggressive sales people who only care about “what’s in it for me.” We do not tolerate unnecessary drama nor unethical, mean-spirited business behavior. We are not about forcing you to refer someone from the organization just because they are in the organization. We are not all best friends, but we do always exhibit respect and courtesy to fellow members. We are not here to be your sole marketing vehicle, your babysitter, your COO, or your therapist. We’re here to help each other grow as entrepreneurs and as mothers — and we’re FABULOUS at doing just that for those who are excited to be part of a vibrant, collaborative community.
